The Story of My Journey Through Cancer and Back
Noshing Your Way To Health, One Bite At A Time

Where It BeganBorn and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. My Father owned a restaurant supply business when I was a child. My passion for food was instilled in me from an early age. I accompanied my father for many years on his visits to the restaurants he supplied. I delighted in watching the chefs creating magical dishes and was gripped by the love of food. When I was 13 my parents bought a restaurant and I would frequently work there flipping burgers, making salads and tossing pizzas. I realized I had a gift for this type of work and it further ignited my passion. Later in life after I left college and completed my military service, I began a business with physical fitness and because of my love of food I became obsessed with the nutritional aspect of the business. |
Life Leads The WayAs a young man, I would spend numerous hours in health food stores reading product labels and books and became extremely interested in healing the body through good nutrition practices. I engaged nutritionists, dietitians, holistic doctors, and holistic institutes such as Hippocrates Health Institute. I studied the methods of healing from founder, Ann Wigmore in 1980. As my fitness business grew, more and more clients became focused on their nutrition so I started cooking for them and brought dishes to my fitness classes for them to taste. It became so popular that I added healthy private chef to my business. |

No Challenge Too BigDespite my best attempts to learn more about my newly acquired specialty in cooking, I quickly realized that traditional cooking schools didn't teach the kind of cuisine that I was creating. Instead I turned to my network of health professionals that I had already built up through this journey of discovery. They began sending their patients to me and together we worked on ways to aid the recovery process. I was the only chef at the time doing this type of work, naturally, I became inundated with business and built an exceptional reputation throughout South Florida where I have lived since 1981. |
When Tragedy StrikesIn 2004 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, the news was devastating, but I had truly been blessed with an incredible gift. Over many years, I have received countless letters of recommendation from patients that experienced the power of holistic cooking and were incredibly grateful for the good health that they had found. |

There Is A WayThe reason I call my cancer a "gift" is because it gave me the opportunity to work on myself with the tools I had so serendipitously acquired. I began changing my way of eating to only raw foods, green juices, wheat-grass, sprouts (living foods) that changed the chemistry of my body to an atmosphere that enabled my body to heal me. I began meditating each day, received acupuncture and went to therapy since as a holistic chef I realized if I was truly going to heal myself I have to clean out the negativity in my thinking that was poisoning my body. |
The TriumphAfter 5 months, I was stronger and feeling much healthier. I went for a checkup and my cancer was completely gone. Amazed, I said to myself "This stuff really works". My body was able to heal me, and I became even more passionate about helping others to take the same journey. The ability to share this incredible knowledge and hope was because of the gift of my cancer which I would not have had such a deep belief in, had I not been through my own healing process. |
I have been a holistic healing chef since 1981 and have helped so many people. My goal now is reaching out to as many people as I possibly can to educate them in healthy cooking practices and share my passion and story with them to inspire them to create their own journey to a better, healthier life.
